I am biblical counselor which means I believe in the truth and usefulness of the Bible to help all people in all circumstances and it is the primary influence of my life and work. I am also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker which means I have a Masters Degree in Social Work (2002, UNC Chapel Hill), and a license through the North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board (license #C005837). I have been in the field since 1997, working with children, teens, adults, groups, families, and couples.
I have worked with people dealing with stress, depression and anxiety, life changes, school issues, trauma, family crises, medical crises, parenting problems, marriage and relationship issues, grief and loss, and spiritual crises. While primarily centered around understanding and applying biblical truth, my work is also influenced by principles of Person-Centered Therapy, Existential Therapy, Reality Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approaches, and more projective and play-oriented approaches with children. I believe all people have inherent dignity and are capable of understanding themselves, their problems, and of learning to manage what they can and cannot change.
